Next, we received an "Introduction to the Cold War" which reviewed the conditions and factors which gave rise to the tensions and complex geopolitics which characterized U.S. foreign policy for the next half century.

Greetings folks! My sincere apologies to all - it has been brought to my attention that the website update that I completed on Friday did not post to this website for some reason (most likely an iffy internet connection). I have included all updates for Friday's classes below for those who were absent on Fri. March 22.
In Friday's class, we began with a HOMEWORK CHECK of the previous day's QOTD and a brief discussion.
Next, we began to examine "Post WWII America". Since we did not get all the way through this lesson on Friday, we completed it during today's class (Monday)

Happy Friday ladies and gentlemen! I hope that everyone has relaxing/exciting plans for the weekend. If you weren't in class today, here's what you missed:
Today, we began to examine the counterpoint to the American Dream, something which historians refer to as "The Other America". Since we didn't get all the way through this today, we'll continue with it during Tuesday's class.
Finally, at the end of class, we handed out a "Pre-Writing Checklist" for your Theory of American History essay. Please examine this checklist carefully before you sit down to construct your outline or first draft.

Happy Friday ladies and gentlemen! I hope everyone has relaxing or exciting plans for the weekend. One more week until Spring Break. Yay!!! If you weren't in class today, here's what you missed:
Just a heads up - I did not check the QOTD today, so if you weren't here, don't worry. I'll be checking it on Monday.
Today, we took a look at "Pop Culture in the 1950s". Keep in mind that very little of the material from our pop culture classes ends up on tests. However, do make notes on any statistics that are mentioned. Beyond that, I invite you to explore some of the clips we didn't get a chance to watch in your class. Perhaps you'll discover a new favorite song or film and fall down a 1950s-themed Youtube rabbit hole! :)

Welcome back ladies and gentlemen! I hope that everyone had a fun and restful weekend. If you weren't in class today, here's what you missed:
Today, we began with a brief HOMEWORK CHECK and discussion of our last QOTD. This QOTD was actually due on Friday, but since we didn't get a chance to check and discuss it then, we did so today. Please email me your response if you were away today. Also, if you emailed it before your class on Friday, don't worry, you're covered! :)

We need parent chaperones for our upcoming field trip to the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library on Thursday May 9 and Friday May 10. If your parents are interested in coming to watch you participate in a very cool simulation, please let me know as soon as possible. We need 6 chaperones altogether - 3 per day.

Today, we wrote our Unit 8 Test: Post-War Boom and Cold War Conflict. If you were absent for testing today, I will be giving two opportunities for make-up tests after school this Thursday April 11 and Friday April 12. Please show up for one of those two make-up sessions if you missed today's test - whichever session is more convenient for you.
